FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why do I need a financial advisor?

Financial planning and investment management can be difficult and overwhelming. According to the Employee Benefit Research Institute, about 40% of US households will run out of money during retirement. Almost half of Americans who are older than 60 rely on social security as their only income (the average annual income from social security is $18,036). Additionally, the current average personal debt of Americans is $90,460.

Living with constant stress and fear about finances, failing to achieve personal dreams, and losing money in foolish investments are real threats. With our help, you can overcome these obstacles, experience peace, and enjoy your life with those you love by putting a financial plan in place.

What does your financial plan include?

Our planning services will be customized to your needs, goals, and life situation. Specific planning areas include retirement savings, investments, tax review, cash flow, education funding, insurance, estate considerations, and desired giving. To provide these services, we rely on the personal information and objectives you share with us.

What is the fee for a financial plan?

Our fees vary depending on the services you choose to receive. The negotiated fixed rate for creating client financial plans is between $700 and $5,000. This fee is based on a rate of $150-$250/hour depending on the employee completing the work and an estimate of the total staff hours it will take to prepare the plan. Financial planning fees are charged after planning services are provided.

Can you manage my investments for me?

Yes. We primarily use TD Ameritrade as the custodian for our clients’ accounts.  Our investment management services will be customized to your needs, goals, time horizon, financial status, tax status, and risk tolerance. We provide advice regarding portfolio design, asset allocation, investment selection, tax efficiency, planned contributions or distributions, and strategic implementation.

What is the fee for investment management?

Our advisory fee is based on tiered schedules that vary between 0.30% and 0.90% depending on the amount of assets that we manage for you. Fees are negotiable at our discretion and in certain circumstances including, but not limited to, amount of assets being managed, family relationships, and the range of services being provided.

Advisory fees are withdrawn quarterly, after the end of each quarter, from your investment accounts with your written authorization. During any partial quarterly-billing periods, advisory fees will be prorated based on the number of days your account was open.

What does fiduciary mean?

A fiduciary is someone who is legally and ethically obligated to act in your best interest at all times. This is a standard that all Registered Investment Advisers are held to, but not all truly live out. Our desire is to earn your trust and show you that fiduciary care is not just an expectation or nice idea; it’s the heartbeat behind what we do. You will receive advice based upon what is most beneficial for you, not based upon what will benefit any other person or financial institution.

I recently lost a loved one. Can you help?

We’d be honored to, and we’re sorry for your loss and sorrow. There’s so much to process and think about. Whether it’s the death of a spouse, parent, child, or other loved one, we’ve helped our clients journey forward. Bringing peace and financial stability to those tough moments is something we care deeply about.

Is there a minimum account size?

We require a minimum total investment of $250,000 or a minimum account size of $50,000. This is negotiable at our discretion and in certain circumstances.

Can I rollover my 401k or other plan to your management?

Possibly.  If you’re retired or separated from service, and it fits a financial plan we craft together, we’d be happy to help you make that transition.
