Encouragement from the IFS Team

Dear Friends,

We hope you are doing well and that this note can be an encouragement to you. This has certainly been a long, difficult season of time in our world. When we first heard of COVID early in 2020, many of us hoped it would perhaps last only a few months. Yet here we are 18 months later, dealing with another serious wave of the virus. When you compound that with global racial tensions, political unrest, wars, natural disasters, etc., it is no surprise that many of us are hurting, discouraged, and fearful.

One positive outcome of this season that we’ve found beneficial is a greater awareness and willingness to talk about the importance of mental health. So, with that perspective, we wanted to shift our focus a bit in this newsletter to share some reminders about how we all need to take care of ourselves and each other. These personal investments are more valuable than any financial investment we could make.

Below are links to the following:

  • 10 Ways to Take care of your mental health
  • The importance of your “attention”
  • Some Good News
  • Local events coming up

We have also included a poem with the author’s reflection about beauty rising out of the darkness. Our goal in all of this is to bring you a bit of peace and hope to help carry you through this season.

Thank you for the continued privilege of serving you and partnering with you on your financial journey,

The IFS Team

10 Ways to Take Care of Your Mental Health

The importance of treating your mental health as you would your physical health is a pretty well-accepted principle. It’s becoming less taboo to talk openly about. All signs point to the fact that we’re prioritizing self-care, and that’s awesome.

Here are 10 small but important ways you can take care of your mental health.

Attention Is The Cash Value Of Time

Despite what you think, time isn’t your most valuable asset. Attention supersedes all. You’re as free as your attention span permits. For example, living to a hundred doesn’t guarantee happiness. Focusing on every perceived slight, both real and imagined wastes precious attentional bandwidth.
